The Beach "Cross-Your-Path" Rule

Every time I go to the beach, I've adopted a simple rule that I try to follow - if I see a piece of trash that crosses directly in my path, I pick it up and throw it away. If you've ever stopped to look at the grounds of some of our beaches in Hawaii, you know that there is far more than just one piece of trash within view, even within just a few feet, so there's no way we can realistically do it all by ourselves. But what if in addition to cleaning up after ourselves, we also followed this "cross-your-path" rule? I try to do it because it feels right, because I love where I live and I want to help keep it beautiful. Again, I know I can't do it all, but I can do something and something is better than nothing.

For sure, this is a minor thing, but it feels good to do it, it helps us look outside of ourselves and our little bubbles in life that we tend to get stuck in, and every little bit helps (especially when others see you doing it and it starts to catch on to them as well).

So next time you're at the beach, try to remember the Cross-Your-Path Rule. Aloha! (Today's pick-up was an L&L's large drink cup at Malaekahana, by the way)

Yes!! I agree...when I first saw the title I thought it was gonna be about crossin someones path in the H20...not cool at all whether you're on a surfboard or sponge!! But to my surprise it was about keeping Mother Earth clean...I like that!!
